the answer is blowing in the wind
The answer to our energy consumption dilemma might actually BE blowing in the wind. Especially in places like Atlantic Canada.
And yes, there is a philosophical connotation being made here as well.

The wind between St Johns and Gander was terrible - at least as far as my fuel consumption goes. But can’t that wind power be harnessed somehow?
Incidently - it turns out that John is going from PEI to a climate change conference in Montreal next week with David Daughton, the owner of a smart car I had met in Charlottetown on Sunday. It’s a small world. (It’s a small car.)

Here’s another irony.
When I had first arrived in Gander, John tried everything he could to find me a place with an internet connection. We tried 5 motels and a B&B. Eventually he put me up! He just had to have my car parked at the town arena.
Why?
Because THAT NIGHT, Targa Newfoundland was stopping in Gander, and these rally cars from all over North America were parking at the arena. ‘Gear heads’ (John’s word) like interesting cars. So the smart was left at the arena for two hours.
And then the Salvation Army bus arrived and gave it some REAL competition. :-)
